2. All persons who have served honorably in the United States military, Reserves or Coast Guard, including those on active duty, and their family members, are encouraged to consider joining this diverse group of like-minded men and women.

In July 30, 2019 a bill was signed that declared the United States has been in a state of war since Dec. 7, 1941.

Now that the legislation has been signed, the American Legion’s eligibility criteria immediately changed from seven war eras to two:

  • April 6, 1917 to Nov. 11, 1918​,
  • Dec. 7, 1941 to Today 


If you are currently on active duty, serving the United States honorably, anywhere in the world, or have served honorably during any of the eligible war eras, we invite you to become a member of The American Legion Fred Brock Post 828.

The American Legion Auxiliary is the world's largest womens patriotic service organization. Through its nearly 10,500 units located in every state and some foreign countries, the Auxiliary embodies the spirit of America that has prevailed through war and peace. Along with The American Legion, it solidly stands behind America and her ideals.

While originally organized to assist The American Legion, the Auxiliary has achieved its own unique identity while working side-by-side with the Veterans who belong to the American Legion. Like The Legion, The Auxiliary's interests have broadended to encompass the entire community.

 1 . Download the fillable American Legion Auxiliary Membership Application, and complete it. 
   
2.  ​​Obtain proof of your eligibility.
Note: If the person who provides your eligibility is living, they must be a current member of The American Legion and eligibility documentation is likely not necessary; however, you do need to provide his or her American Legion member ID number and Post information on your application. If the person who provides your eligibility is deceased, acceptable eligibility documents include:
- DD-214 Discharge Papers (not issued until after the Korean War), 

- Official Military Orders, 

Official Military Service Citations/Awards (letters related to the veteran’s military service must be on official government letterhead), 

Certificate from the VA records center in St. Louis, 

Data from the back of older discharges

SONS OF THE AMERICAN LEGION POST 828

Annual Dues: $25.00

While The Post and Auxiliary have distinct and separate identities, the Sons of the American Legion (SAL) is a "Committee: of the Legion Post.  The Sons has its own Constitution, membership, finances, and projects.  Although it has its own membership, the organization is not a separate entity.  Rather, SAL is a program of The American Legion.  Many Legionnaires hold dual membership in SAL.

All male descendants, adopted sons, and stepsons of members of The American Legion and such male descendants of veterans who died in service during World War I, and December 7,1941, to date, as set forth in Article IV, Section 1, of the National Constitution of The American Legion, or who died subsequent to their honorable discharge from such service, shall be eligible for membership in the Sons of The American Legion.

There shall be no forms or class of membership except an active membership.
