Greetings,

 Always giving honor to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, I want to thank you all for continuing to be a part of Post 828. I last sent out an email in June and much has occurred. All great stuff!!!

First, we exceeded our 2022-2023 membership goal of 325 to 397, which is our ALL TIME HIGH! On June 20, the officers of the Post, Unit, and Sons of the American Legion were installed and are ready to work. Please support them to make our Post better and the lives of our community better as well.

In July, I, along with delegates from the Post, attended the annual Department Convention in Austin. I felt so proud to have our Post Name called out numerous times to accept awards. The following were presented to us:  All-Time High, Post Recruiting Award, Post Retention Award (90% or more), Post 100% Award, and the coveted Post Excellence Award with White Streamer.  Additionally, the Post received first place plaques in the Post History Contest (Narrative) and Press Scrapbook. We also brought home more than $500 in membership cash back.

 On July 17, we had the pleasure of having Billy Ray Shepphard and company perform at the Post in support of Project Shoes led by Legionnaire Gus Coleman. This was a free event in which we received $1,000 in donations to support our Cub Scout Pack and Boys Scout Troop.

 Also in July, the Post served as a sponsor of the annual Community Junior Chef Competition and Back-2-School Shoe Giveaway hosted by WORLD LOLEI, Inc.

 Happy Belated Birthday to all who celebrated in July. We especially had a great time celebrating our S.A.L. Squadron CDR Bubba Tyler and Auxiliary President Pam Money. Just last night we celebrated Cassandra Minor and Kathy Robinson.

 If you didn’t hear, we are planning on having free monthly live entertainment for you all during our NCO Appreciation Nights held on the first Fridays of the month. We will be selling fried fish plates and will have the 2-hour $5 happy hour. Our first musical group will be System-XO, so come out this Friday and enjoy. The show starts at 7pm.

In reference to our Biometrics System at the door, we are pending some training. I will let you all know when it comes online.

 In reference to membership. The clock has been reset for 2023-2024. I am asking all Legionnaires to renew their dues in August. We must hit our monthly goals:  Sept: 50%, Oct. 55%, Nov. 65%, Dec. 75 and so on until May: 100%.  I want us to be recognized by the Department and National by being 100% by December. Please help me accomplish this by renewing your dues in August. A reminder that dues are $50 annually. Currently, National is updating our dues price on www.mylegion.org which currently says $41. If you have renewed online at $41, you owe us $9. Please provide those funds to the Post.

 In reference to Facebook, I sent a letter to Facebook about our page being restricted and I have not received a response. Thus, our Adjutant has created a new Page. Please visit and like

Lastly, I will be out of the area Aug. 13-30, thus 1st Vice CDR Marcellus Hutchinson will be acting Post Commander.
