8. READING OF EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE REPORT: Read by CDR Burrell Parmer. Moved by Al Alford, Board of Trustees Chairman/Past Immediate Post Commander, and seconded by Jerome Harris, S.A.L. Advisor to approve the Executive Committee Report. Motion carried.

9. READING OF MINUTES OF LAST GENERAL MEETING – It was moved by Marcellus Hutchinson, 1st Vice Cmdr and seconded by Jerry Farmer, Financial Officer to suspend the reading and approve the minutes. Motion Carried.

10. OFFICER REPORTS:

A. 1St VCDR –

• Membership Report – 19 Mar 2024

o Current membership Goal: 397

o Renewals to date: 228

o PUFL: 39

o Transfers: 2

o New members: 37

o 2024 Renewal percentage: 76.57%

• The 1st Vice Commander will attend the Miss Black San Antonio Pageant to receive an award being given to Post 828.

B. 2nd VCDR–

• The 17 Feb 2024 Kickapoo Casino Trip made $1,504.00.

• The next Casino trip tentatively scheduled for 27 Jun 2024. The date must be confirmed NLT 31 Mar 2024 in order to receive a discount.

• If any businesses or organizations in the local area need plate orders of 10 or more during our monthly Fish Fry, they will be delivered.

C. ADJUTANT/HUBMASTER –

• License Plate Fundraiser

o Plates requested: 38

o Honorary plates: 4

o Funds collected: $3,400.00

o All requested plates have been made.

• The current rosters for the Legionnaires and S.A.L. are available. Adjutant will provide the current roster for the Auxiliary Thursday, 22 Feb 2024.

D. FINANCE OFFICER –

• Finance Report

o Bldg. Fund: $34,291.18

o Business Mkt: $10,484.60

o Cash on Hand: $1,800.00

o Checking: $19,490.00

o Youth: $4,051.90

o Total: $70,117.68

• The Post has received the $2,000.00 donation from Bexar County.

• The lights upgrade in the Event Center cost $2,000.00, paid from the Bldg Expense Fund.

• Food sales have gone up since The Post has decided to have food available each day it’s open. The Post membership is very appreciative of this change.

It was moved by Jerome Harris, S.A.L. Advisor and seconded by Ricardo Allen, Board of Trustees, to approve

Finance Report as read with corrections. Motion Carried.

H. HISTORIAN - No report.

I. CHAPLAIN –

BOYS/GIRLS STATE - The Executive Board has agreed to assist The Auxiliary with Girls State funding.

The cost for each young lady is $475.00. There are two young ladies that attend Brackenridge High School who need sponsorship. Chaplain Pat Wimberley is sponsoring one, which leaves the other young lady in need of sponsorship.

14. BOARD OF TRUSTEES REPORT

• Chairman Al Alford expressed gratitude for the Get Well card he received.

• Upgrades to the Event Center (ceiling fans, light, primer & paint on the storage container w/two vents and a light switch installed) cost $4,000.00.

• A barrier is still needed in the parking lot for the protection of the marquee. POCs are Al Alford, Jerry Farmer, Michael Nathaniel.

• The SAGE deadline to turn in invoices for Post improvements is 1 Apr 2024.

15. OLD BUSINESS -

• CMDR Parmer summarized the plan to pay off The Post mortgage before elections in May 2024:

1. Looking for 150 members to pledge to pay $400.00 each toward the mortgage. The $400.00 payment can be paid all at once or made in $100.00 installments for the next four months.

2. Seven Legionnaires pledged to participate and make a payment towards the Mortgage Payment.

• Showtime at Post 828, which is being sponsored by Lewis Funeral Home, currently has six entrants. Four more entrants are needed to complete the ten-entrant goal.

16. NEW BUSINESS - None

17. FOR THE GOOD OF THE POST:

• $331.00 was collected during the General Meeting for sponsorship of a young lady for Girls State. Sgt-at-Arms Fernando Rover volunteered to supplement the amount collected to reach the $475.00 needed.

• The Auxiliary will hold the following fundraisers to raise funds for Girls State 2025 Sponsorships:

o 50-50 Raffle at Showtime at Post 828 to raise funds for Girls State.

o A Liquor Basket Raffle which will be held on Memorial Day, Monday, 27 May 2024. Tickets will be available for sale starting 15 Mar 2024. Liquor donations are welcomed.

• S.A.L. Advisor Jerome Harris, who is also a member of the San Antonio Zulu Association asked if Post 828 would be interested in having a booth at The Taste of New Orleans Fiesta event. He also requested volunteers for the serving of liquor during “The Taste”.
